Dominican Republic Trip

Fitness & News Editorial

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Dates: April 1st - 7th

We are taking a team of medical students and faculty to the Dominican Republic to serve the local community alongside Kids Alive International, a ministry that supports schools and children’s homes in the Dominican Republic and across the world.

Our trip will occur during Holy Week which is a national holiday in the DR, so the children will be out of school that week and many families will be off of work. We are planning 2 days of medical clinics open to families of children enrolled in the Kids Alive School system in Santo Domingo. Our team will work alongside a Dominican physician to provide preventative care and treatment for a variety of conditions (i.e. lice, scabies, UTI, parasites).

We will spend the rest of the week in Monte Plata with children who live at the Kids Alive children’s home there. We will have the opportunity to develop materials and provide health education to the children and full-time ministry staff. We will also be able to take part in some of the Holy Week traditions alongside the children and our ministry partners.

We hope you’ll consider joining us for this opportunity to work in medical missions in the Dominican Republic, working on your skills taking a history and performing a physical exam and taking ownership of projects to provide health education. As many of the Dominicans we will serve do not speak English, students who are able to speak Spanish will be essential members of our team.
